6 October 2016 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Drilling of natural gas well KLU A-2 off to a successful start (01:14)

Drilling of the second and final natural gas well planned by the Deutsche Oel & Gas Group for 2016 has got off to a successful start in Southcentral Alaska. KLU A-2 (KLU #3c) targets the Beluga and Sterling formations, with the goal of identifying additional natural gas reserves and deliverability.

Note: The well came into production in 2016.

18 February 2016 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – New Randolph Yost drilling platform on its way from Singapore to the Kitchen Lights Unit in the Cook Inlet, Alaska (0:55)

On 8 February 8 2016, the new jack-up drilling platform “Randolph Yost” leased by the Deutsche Oel & Gas Group left Singapore and is currently on its month-long journey to the Kitchen Lights Unit, in the Cook Inlet, Alaska, where it will start drilling in April 2016. The Randolph Yost is about twice the size of and significantly more powerful than the existing drilling platform, the Spartan 151. With a crew of up to 118 workers, it can be used in water up 90 metres deep and can drill down to depths of more than 7,500 metres. The larger and stronger drill rig also enables shorter drilling times.

30 September 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Completion of infrastructure – Summary of work in the Kitchen Lights Unit in 2015 (10:48)

Over the past few years, Deutsche Oel & Gas, founded by Kay Rieck, has successfully driven forward the construction of its own infrastructure for natural gas and crude oil production in the Cook Inlet.

In the spring and summer of 2015 an offshore production platform was installed in the Kitchen Lights Unit which will be able to produce both natural gas and crude oil, if required. A 22.5 kilometers subsea pipeline from the monopod production platform to the onshore processing facility on the Kenai Peninsula was also laid and completed during this time.

Natural gas production is expected to begin in November 2015.

10 September 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Onshore facility on Kenai Peninsula completed – Production infrastructure in the Kitchen Lights Unit is in place (2:20)

The onshore processing facility on the Kenai Peninsula needed for the production of natural gas and later of crude oil is now complete. Along with the monopod production platform and the pipeline, the onshore processing facility is the third major piece of infrastructure that Deutsche Oel & Gas has constructed in the region over the past few years.

A total of around 400 specialists were involved in the construction of the infrastructure in Southcentral Alaska alone, approximately 180 of whom were from the Kenai/Nikiski region.

Initial tests have already been conducted on the production infrastructure ahead of the production of natural gas in late 2015. Final tests are also being carried out at the processing facility, which has a peak overall processing capacity of up to 200 million cubic feet of natural gas and, in future, up to 5,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

3 September 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Pipeline passes water pressure test (1:40)

Deutsche Oel & Gas has reached an important milestone in its natural gas and crude oil production region, the Kitchen Lights Unit in the Cook Inlet of Alaska, with the pipeline installed and successfully passing the water pressure test in the summer of 2015. The plan is to deliver the first gas produced by the company founded by Kay Rieck through this pipeline by the end of 2015.

6 August 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Production decks installed on the production platform – Infrastructure close to completion (1:54)

The 22.5-kilometre subsea pipeline was recently connected to the monopod production platform – a monumental event for Deutsche Oel & Gas, founded by Kay Rieck.

Just a few days later the company has successfully mounted the production deck, living quarters and helipad on the monopod platform caisson leg, over the existing KLU #3 discovery well.

Mounting the production decks marks a further significant milestone towards completion of the overall infrastructure. Production of the first natural gas from the Kitchen Lights Unit is expected at the end of this year.

The production decks weigh around 544 tonnes. (By way of comparison, an Airbus A380 weighs around 276 tonnes.) The experts from Deutsche Oel & Gas hoisted them from the transportation vessel and mounted them on the monopod caisson leg in just 35 minutes.

4 August 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Pipeline successfully connected to production platform and processing facility – Monopod anchoring complete – Production deck support structure assembled (1:58)

Deutsche Oel & Gas, founded by Kay Rieck, specializes in natural gas and crude oil production in the Cook Inlet Basin of Southcentral Alaska. The company erected the monopod caisson, the supporting leg of the production platform, in July 2015 and cemented the 70-metre-long support pilings. Further components of the production platform, such as the production deck, living quarters, a helipad and crane, will be installed beginning in August. Natural gas production is set to start in late 2015.

The infrastructure work by Deutsche Oel & Gas S.A. in the Kitchen Lights Unit continues to proceed on schedule.

With the monopod caisson leg successfully installed over the KLU #3 discovery well, the Deutsche Oel & Gas team has now also driven in the 70-metre-long pilings, securely anchoring the monopod caisson base. This clears the way for the final installation of the production platform, with its individual modules.

29 June 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Summary of infrastructure activities in the Kitchen Lights Unit as of mid-June 2015 (4:12)

The company founded by Kay Rieck is engaged in the production of natural gas and crude oil in the Cook Inlet Basin in Alaska. Over the past two years the team has been working on its own production infrastructure in order to complete pipelines, a processing plant and the production platform by autumn 2015. Natural gas production is set to start in late 2015.

The Deutsche Oel & Gas Group, founded by Kay Rieck, celebrated another major success in its Kitchen Lights Unit development, with the completion of the pipeline for the future transportation of gas and, later, oil. With assistance from the pipe-laying vessel Ninilchik, experts on site were able to lay the 22.5-kilometre pipeline within one month, completing the work on schedule.

8 June 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Installation of the monopod in the Kitchen Lights Unit, a natural gas and crude oil production region (3:49)

At the beginning of June, the Deutsche Oel & Gas Group reached a particularly important milestone in establishing its infrastructure in the Kitchen Lights Unit with the installation of the monopod platform. Around 100 specialists aboard the special-purpose vessel MS Svenja installed the monopod caisson base in just 48 hours.

Once the steel base has been anchored on the seabed over the coming weeks, installation of the production deck, with crew quarters and helipad, can begin. Completion is expected this summer, as scheduled.

Work on laying the pipelines is also on schedule. Approximately 13 of the 22 kilometres of pipeline, more than half, have already been laid on the seabed in the Cook Inlet.

Having its own production infrastructure, with an offshore platform, subsea pipelines and onshore processing facility, is particularly valuable to Deutsche Oel & Gas, as it will allow the company to act independently in the production of natural gas and crude oil. Specialists from all over the world are involved in the construction and installation of this infrastructure.

27 May 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – MS Svenja, Cook Inlet Pipeline, Kitchen Lights Unit (2:07)

A subsea pipeline of around 22.5 kilometres in length is being laid in the Kitchen Lights Unit, a natural gas and crude oil production region owned by Deutsche Oel & Gas S.A. It will link the monopod production platform at the KLU #3 discovery well location to the processing facility on the Kenai Peninsula in Southcentral Alaska.

The Deutsche Oel & Gas Group is getting even closer to completing its own production infrastructure in its Kitchen Lights Unit, a natural gas and crude oil production region in Alaska. On 14 May 2015, the production deck and the monopod caisson structure set off on their way to be installed at the KLU #3 discovery well location. The tugboat Resolve Pioneer transported the components from Seattle to the Cook Inlet. The German heavy-lift vessel MS Svenja, which will install the individual components of the platform on site, has already reached its destination port of Homer, Alaska.

12 May 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Spartan 151 drilling platform leaves Port Graham – Drilling activity resumes in the Kitchen Lights Unit, a crude oil and natural gas production region, Alaska (1:07)

Having spent the winter in ice-free Port Graham, the Spartan 151 jack-up drilling platform is returned to the Cook Inlet. The drilling platform, which Deutsche Oel & Gas used in the Kitchen Lights Unit from 2011 through 2014, will perform important drilling operations there again this summer. It will also assist in connecting the existing KLU #3 discovery well for the start of natural gas production.

12 May 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Energy for Alaska (documentation – part 1): Building the production platform (21:44)

Deutsche Oel & Gas, a company specialising in natural gas and crude oil production in the Cook Inlet Basin of Southcentral Alaska, plans to complete its first production platform in the summer of 2015. The production platform is a special, one-of-a-kind construction built with modular components from different parts of the US. In addition to the platform deck, the experts from SSCI also fabricated the monopod caisson, a steel base standing 50 metres tall, at Ingleside, Texas.

4 May 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Pipe-laying vessel reaches its port of destination – MS Svenja has left the port of Singapore (1:05)

The building of the infrastructure in the Kitchen Lights Unit, a natural gas and crude oil production region in the Cook Inlet in Alaska, is continuing as planned. The pipe-laying vessel Ninilchik, which left Seattle in mid-April 2015, reached its port of destination in Alaska last week. The MS Svenja has already left the port of Singapore, where it was readied for deployment to Alaska. It will arrive in the Cook Inlet some time in May.

Preparations are currently under way for construction of the natural gas and crude oil production platform at the KLU #3 discovery well location in the Kitchen Lights Unit. The monopod caisson, the supporting leg of the platform, was brought to Seattle in autumn 2014. It will shortly embark on its journey to the Cook Inlet, where it will be installed at the well site.

16 April 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas – Pipe-laying vessel leaves Seattle (1:35)

The Deutsche Oel & Gas Group is working at full speed to set up production infrastructure in its natural gas and crude oil production region, the Kitchen Lights Unit. Production of natural gas from the KLU#3 Discovery Well is set to begin late this year. On 11 April 2015, a 76-metre-long pipe-laying vessel, the Ninilchik, left the port of Seattle, where in the preceding weeks it had been fitted out to meet the special requirements for laying a 22.5 kilometre stretch of subsea pipeline in the Cook Inlet. The vessel is expected to arrive in the Kitchen Lights Unit natural gas and crude oil production region at the end of April 2015.

16 April 2015 – Deutsche Oel & Gas infrastructure (3:22)

Deutsche Oel & Gas, which specialises in the production of natural gas and crude oil in the Cook Inlet Basin of Alaska, plans to complete the construction of its infrastructure in autumn 2015, so that natural gas production can then commence by the end of 2015.
