  • Start of drilling season in April – plans to double gas production

The drilling platform Randolph Yost has arrived in the Cook Inlet in Alaska after travelling around 12,000 kilometres on the high seas since departing from Singapore in mid-February. As soon as the final preparations are complete, the rig will be transported to the final well site, where the 2016 drilling season is expected to commence in April.

Deutsche Oel & Gas is the only company to have an approved drilling schedule for exploratory drilling in the Cook lnlet in 2016, and plans to at least double natural gas production this year. To this end, two wells are to be drilled in accordance with the schedule. The so-called dual-gradient method will be applied for this, which allows two producing zones to be exploited at the same time via one well. In theory, therefore, it will be possible to extract from up to four additional deposits over the course of the year.
