Energy for Alaska
  • First of two wells planned for 2016 successfully drilled
  • Potential production volume of up to 30 million cubic feet a day

Luxembourg, 2 August 2016: Deutsche Oel & Gas has successfully drilled the first of a total of two wells planned for 2016 in the Cook Inlet Basin in Alaska. The well, which was drilled using the so-called dual-gradient method, reached the target depth of around 2,100 metres, as planned. The total length of the borehole is around 2,500 metres. All necessary checks, such as the test of the blowout preventer – a special safety valve that sits directly over the borehole – were conducted successfully and approved by the relevant authorities. Over the coming weeks the well, which has an output of up to 30 million cubic feet of gas a day, will be prepared for production Preparations will then begin for the second well planned for 2016.

“We want to increase our production capacities rapidly, and plan to at least double daily production capacities in 2016,” said Kay Rieck, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Deutsche Oel & Gas S.A.
